Dimplex Ignite Bold Built-in 88″ Linear Electric Fireplace (XLF8817-XD)

Dimplex Ignite Bold Built-in 88″ Linear Electric Fireplace (model XLF8817-XD) is a premium linear electric fireplace designed for indoor and approved outdoor installations, delivering a bold, modern flame presentation with optional supplemental heat. It offers four installation configurations in one unit: front-facing, left-corner, right-corner, or bay-style, so you can match the fireplace to your room layout by removing the side panels as needed.

Visually, Ignite Bold is built to feel deeper and more immersive than a standard linear unit, featuring a tall viewing area (16.1″ / 41 cm) and a deeper viewing depth (5 1/2″ / 14 cm) that creates more space for larger, lifelike media. A patented mirror effect enhances the illusion of depth, while the multi-media bed combines small and large acrylic crystals with natural-looking driftwood for a high-end, layered look.

Customization is a big part of the experience. You can choose from 7 flame themes (including blue, orange, neutral, and blended accent options), adjust flame speed with 5 settings, select from 5 media color options (white, blue, violet, red, green), and switch between 3 media modes: Prism, Kaleidoscope, and Midnight mode (lights off).

For comfort, the Comfort$aver heater provides on-demand supplemental heating (rated up to 1,000 sq. ft. in Dimplex materials), and you can run the flames with or without heat for year-round ambiance. Since the flames do not emit heat, the front glass remains cool to the touch for added safety around kids and pets.

Control options include app support via Flame Connect for expanded customization, and the unit includes smart self-diagnostic technology that displays a code to help with troubleshooting and service. For larger designs, you can add the optional linking kit (XLFXDLINK) to connect multiple units into one continuous installation. Warranty coverage is listed as 5-year limited for indoor use and 1-year limited for outdoor use.
